We opted for Chinese food tonight as part of our vacation experience, and we had driven by this quaint little restaurant on our way back to the hotel from snorkeling. So we figured we'd check it out. There's very little parking on site, so if you're looking to drive down for dinner, plan for parking meters or pay-for-parking machines on the street. This particular location has lots of resident-only parking around, so be careful. Inside, we were surprised that though their parking "lot" was full, there were no customers inside. This isn't usually a good sign, but in this particular case, it turned out to be all right. (In case you're wondering, more people came in after us. It may be that we got there earlier than everyone else, or it may be that we're trend setters.) The decor was cute, the atmosphere quiet, and the menu was complete except for my main fav sesame chicken. I asked though, and the server informed me that she would be happy to make me some. Wow! Brownie points for her! We got our soups first and were pleasantly surprised by the flavor. It was rich and delicious. The main courses arrived and between the flavor and presentation, we were delighted! This is definitely a place we'd return to in a heartbeat.

Decent Chinese place. Good seating and close to downtown. Prices are great and portions are good. Part of the China Garden family that has another restaurant on the other side of the island. If you want delivery though, you'll have to go to the other China Garden.

China Garden isn't the fanciest restaurant in Key West, certainly not what the tourists come here to experience, but it's clean, reliable, and inexpensive. Dining-in is a pleasant experience. The wait staff, mainly young Chinese women, are polite and helpful. Table coverings and napkins are cloth, plates are china, lighting is soft, it never seems rushed. Take-out and delivery are prompt and convenient, just the thing when you're too tired or too lazy to prepare a meal. The menu is typical of Chinese restaurants everywhere, a selection of numbered complete meal choices, then an a la carte section including all of the usual things one finds in these sorts of places. The proprietor, "Johnny", is in the house most evenings and oversees everything with a watchful eye.

This is good chinese (westernized) food! Stayed for aweek and visited this place 4 times. Chicken wings are light and crispy. Eggrolls are great and wonton soup is great especially at $1.25 a cup. Stir fried dishes aren't greasy and cornstarched to death.

I am so glad this restaurant is nearby. Sometimes I just don't want touristy restaurant food. I just want good neighborhood eats. We usually do take out, but one night we dined in and the staff is so attentive and polite. I really like the bean curd with vegetables and the Hofun noodles, which isn't on the regular menu. I described a Chinese dish that I grew up on and loved and one of the ladies figured it out for me and made it. Now, that's exceptional service. It's also a great value because we ALWAYS have leftovers.

Went for dinner on a Thursday night ~8:30pm. Ordered simple (beef and broccoli & chicken with mushrooms (really good), chicken noodle soup & and egg drop soup). Food came out in covered serving bowls, so kept food hot. Service was pleasant; restaurant was clean and quiet. Had it's own parking spaces, so convenient that way. $30 including service charge.

Pretty standard Chinese. Not awesome, but certainly passable.

I got the beef and broccoli that came with pork fried rice and an egg roll. The beef and broccoli was the only good part. The rest was nasty. I love Chinese food and I was so disappointed.

Okay, wtf Yelp! You let me down on this one. I was all ready for a lazy day in my hotel with the husband while it rained and was dreary outside all day and evening-- looking forward to returning with a Chinese feast of lo mein, ribs, egg rolls and soup. I expected a lot because of the 4 starts that Yelpers gave it and alas, it was BAD. REALLY BAD. The lo mein wasn't the stir fried flavorful goodness I'm used to from take out places in NYC. It was yellow and dry and... bland. The egg rolls tasted way too strongly of cabbage and the ribs made my husband sick-- literally. He threw up all night and the next morning. The only good part of this morning was the broth of the wonton soup which had a really good flavor.

Take it from a local... The best Chinese food on the island. These other people on here complaining about wait staff or food... This is an island, we are different down here. Totally different flavors and foods. This place is one of our favorites. Please do go here, they give you lots of food for your money and it's fantastic. Enjoy.

Our experience here was just plain uncomfortable. The staff (with the exception of one woman) was very pushy and we felt rushed the entire time we were there. Which is baffling bc we were the ONLY people there at lunch time. To start the duck sauce tastes like watered down ketchup It's disgusting. Next, the duck entree was overcooked and did not come with the brown sauce, or wraps My husband had the boneless spare ribs and he said they weren't good at all. The meat was rubbery and the flavor was way off Would not return

Tasteless food. Questionable meat. No flavor. Giving this place an additional star because the service was nice. But the food was horrible.

Great food! Egg rolls were awesome and I'm not an egg roll person. Very good prices too! I had take out, so can't comment on dining in, but we will be very regular customers.

Good Chinese takeout...very tasty and a good value. Would highly recommend for an affordable and well prepared dinner.

If can give negative star I will definitely do it! It is very uncomfortable a dinner experience. The waitress sucks. The food is horrible, oily and sweet. As a Chinese I would never ever come back again.

Boring Chinese food, nothing that sets it apart in terms of menu. Designed for the tourists. Had bland orange chicken (not spicy at all), soggy sweat and sour chicken, house special fried rice that contained char su pork, shrimp, beef, chicken, and undercooked myshrooms, and crispy fried duck that was extremely dry. If you've never had real chinese food this place isn't bad, if you have eat somewhere else.

Very bad chinese food, bad service too! Be careful that they add tips in without noticing!

I ordered a take-out, it was fast. The fried rice and the beef broccoli were really good!

They do offer very good and traditional Chinese dishes other than American Chinese dishes. The steamed local yellowtail fish is just perfect. I will definitely recommend this place.

We chose to go for the meal for two option and i really appreciate the variety they had. Complimentary tea and snack was served as soon as we got seated and it was so good that we became a little too optimistic about the food. But alas! It was disappointing. The meat had a weird smell, which i know was not because of the style of cooking but it was just in it. That was a Big turn off for me. I could hardly finish my meal and did not get it packed, which happens with me very rarely. Our server was very sweet but barely knew english, so we had a little difficulty placing the order but was manageable. What i really liked about the place was the oriental set up. From the dishes they used to the paintings on the wall, it never lets you forget that you are in for a chinese meal.

Quick lunch referred by local tour guide, might be the only Chinese place in Key West? The food is OK and the stuff are friendly. Typical American Chinese menu, but what else do you expect? It's amazing how short the waiting time was, and we were happy about the service. Some friends need hot water for their own tea, and they are super kind and filled the mugs with hot water for us.Happy to find another Chinese restaurant owned by Fuzhou people.

  • Pirt M.

This is my go-to Chinese food place. Try the burbon chicken! It's amazing. The staff are always very friendly and the food is great! Beware of the large portions though! My girlfriend and I usually opt for a side and an entree to split.

This place is the worst Chinese restaurant I have been in years. The main problem is the server was just a kid in high school with the worst possible social skills you can imagine. After we had our meal (not so bad actually) the "server" came with the check and made sure we had left tips to the point it became uncomfortable.

It was ok for Chinese food. The host was very rude and she made us very uncomfortable.

3 stars, A-OK. The food was really A-OK, actually better than those quick carry-out Chinese restaurant. The service was good and the portions were decent. There's not much to rave about everything was good, but not amazing. Oh and we were charged gratuity for a party of 5.

We actually visited this Chinese restaurant in Key West. Not in Duvel, but actually couple more blocks and totally walking distance if you are into walking. It's just a regular Chinese restaurant, and it tastes a little bit different than what we had usually, but it's not bad at all. Price is reasonable.

This our favourite Chinese restaurant in all of South Florida. Our favourite is beef and broccoli. The egg drop is excellent. Service was very prompt; our waiter kept the drinks filled and the food came out piping hot. They also split bill.

This is okay Chinese food but nothing to rave about for sure. The dumplings were pasty not hardly seasoned meat surrounded by doughy undercooked dough. The General Tso's chicken was better but the sauce was glutinous and too sweet. The fried rice had a soy sauce taste to it.

Surprisingly good! Try the pork moo shu... Excellent!

My wife and I go to Key West annually and, typically, eat at mostly restaurant/bars where live music is going on. We were told about this place by a couple of friends who happened upon it walking from one bar to another or back to their condo/house rental. I have to get my Chinese, typically, once a week and I had not had it before leaving on this vacation. When were were told how good it was, we drove our rented scooter over there and sat down inside for lunch. Not every place has the little fried won ton type chips on the table, but they did and that was nice. I almost always get chicken fried rice with bean sprouts/mushrooms/NO peas or carrots and extra spicy, made with brown rice, but I decided to have the General Tso's....hey it was vacation....fried and glazed is part of the experience when on holiday. This was seriously some of the best General Tso's I have ever had! I asked for hot oil (the chili oil) and was given a small bowl of that, Siracha for my egg roll......it was all fantastic! My wife said the same of her meal (I cannot recall her order, but she will probably review as well). I typically eat half to 3/4ths of an order with the brown rice, but I ate it all!!! I was miserably happy (yes, I know they don't go together)!! It was great! The only thing I was upset about is that I didn't have leftovers to take home!

I would like to give this a higher score but I've been to several Japanese steak houses and am writing this in comparison. The food is the reason for the three stars. Our filet mignon was cooked perfectly but there were several fatty pieces. I've never ever had filet mignon that was fatty. The chicken was overcooked and the meals lacked much flavor. The staff however was great. Our server was terrific and Pete the chef good a good job entertaining. We did get sushi and that was the best part of the meal.

They probably hold the record the biggest vegetable rolls served in a restaurant. I've had Chinese food in a lot of cities but the girth of those vegetable rolls is something to see. They taste so good too. We were stuffed by the time we finished those rolls. The food was really tasty and the waitress was really nice. Would probably go back there if we visit keys again.

We ordered thru Yelp for delivery so that was convenient and they delivered fast!! The down side was they didn't bring us any eating utensils or napkins. I ordered the General Tsao's chicken spicy and if anything it was sweet not spicy. The price was great for the amount of food we got but they slipped on some of the details. All in all, if I wanted Chinese food in Key West, I'd order from them again, I'd just ask them to provide me with the tools required to eat, like a fork or some chopsticks.

Not great. Not bad. We had pan fried dumplings, crispy duck, shrimp low mien, and fried rice. The crispy duck was over fried - dry! The shrimp low mien was made with large egg noodles - blah. It was greasy, light in flavor, but in the end decent. The restaurant has parking out front which is the best part of the whole experience. $35+ tip.

If you're looking for GOOD Chinese food off the beaten path (Duval St) then this is the place. Try their Singapore Rice Noodles with chicken and shrimp if you like the flavor of curry. DELICIOUS!! We also tried their glazed chicken wings. Very good! Don't come here if you must have a 4 star decor and atmosphere. But come here if you want very good Chinese food, great service, and made fresh.

We would not return to this establishment again. Was there three weeks ago, ordered two of the specials of the day, crispy chicken and burbon chicken. Both were overcooked and without flavor, highly salty. Was very surprised at the poor quality, lack of freshness of the food, espeically given they were specials. The meat was like leather. Vegetables on dish were dead. Service was ok. Was hoping for a local "find" but left quite disappointed.

I did a lot of searching for Chinese restaurants in Key West, and stumbled upon China Garden on Fleming St. My travel partner and I gave it a shot for dinner, and the food was excellent! One of the best egg rolls I've had so far! Try the Hunan Chicken and Shrimp combo if you're in the mood for something spicy. It definitely did not disappoint! I'll be back again during my next trip to KW.

Ancient Chinese Proverb: Walking around, looking for work in the Hot October sun (lol... I just said that; "Hot October sun") can work up an appetite and make one search for a place with air conditioning. True Story. So I walked by this place. It was mostly empty but, I mean, what Chinese restaurant in my life has ever been full? No don't say PF Chang's. I said CHINESE, not Corporate. Which reminds me. I never have eaten PF Chang's and Now I live somewhere there is none. There is a Benihana here but... Oh ya. That's Japanese. Oh. I'm writing a review. Ahem. Ok so I ordered the Duck. I think it was crispy duck. All I know is it was delicious. It came out with plenty of veggies, and a bowl of fried rice. They brought complimentary tea to the table. Score! I didn't get white rice but they had no problem bringing it out to me. I chatted with the waitress who probably understood only half of what I was saying but was friendly anyway. I started talking about how I always wanted to learn to read and write Chinese and she started showing me a couple cool art pieces in the restaurant that she liked. And then my Duck came. It was probably the best duck I've had in a Chinese restaurant or even in a Thai restaurant. Why? Because not only was it delicious but it was boneless. It was chunks or cubes or whatever you wanna call it but that, to me, is GREAT. And the price was right. It was around $10 for everything, and duck is usually $12 if I remember correctly. Trust me. I am a picky Chinese food guy. This was good Chinese. I tried another place a couple days later... No way. This place is far better hands down. You'll probably see a review by me of the other place soon enough. Meanwhile you know where to go to get your Chinese. Enjoi

Hands down the best Chinese food on the island.

Typical Chinese food. Prices are a bit higher than normal but expected for Key West. Chicken fried rice is great. Service was mediocre. If you have a hankering for Chinese, this is supposed to be the best one on the island.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
